The local Ordinary is Rt. Rev. Bishop Michael Bhasera born in 1949, ordained priest in 1978, ordained the first bishop of Gokwe Diocese in 1991 and then installed the first bishop of Masvingo Diocese on the 24th of April 1999.

The Bishop's vision is that people in the diocese be a family of God united in love, seeking, following and proclaiming Jesus Christ

To achieve this, Sekuru Bhasera, as he is popularly called, says that the most important task is evangelization.
His motto is that God's will be done.

He believes through Evangelization, Inculturation, Promotion of the social teaching of the church, Enhancing Social Communication and Dialoging with other faiths a family can be built.

He actually emphasised that the family is the first church.

He pointed out that though the intention is to become a family of God, the major challenges are that of inculturating faith, formation of the laity , clergy and the religious, HIV/AIDS awareness, building a self-reliant church.

Vicar General

Very Rev. Fr. Callisto Matibini is the Vicar General, born in the year 1971 and ordained priest in the year 1998.He tries by all means to fullfill the bishop's mind.

Inorder to achieve their aim of building a family of GOD, the Vicar General says, family gathering is held every year end and thats when they spread the gospel and encourage each other.
Fr. C. Matibini

He also believes building the priests first is most important as they will in turn convey the message to other catholics.

Although they try by all means to encourage people in love, unity and life it is a very big challenge as people have unique ideas.

He is also the Education Secretary for the Diocese.
